Funding Futures. Fueling Representation.
Why We Give

The journey to a healthcare career begins with passion, purpose, and resilience — but for too many, it’s cut short by financial barriers.

At Black Girl White Coat, we’ve lived those struggles. We’ve seen brilliant, driven students pause their dreams because the cost was too heavy. That’s why our scholarship program exists — to lift that weight, open doors, and let potential shine freely.

Each scholarship we award is more than a check — it’s a promise. A promise to invest in equity, in representation, and in the future of healthcare that reflects us all.

When we fund one student, we’re not just changing a life — we’re transforming the face and future of medicine.

Our Commitment

At Black Girl White Coat, we’re committed to breaking down financial barriers for Black women pursuing healthcare careers. Through our annual scholarships and our various partner-funded scholarships, we provide direct financial support to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to service. Each scholarship represents a shared investment — between our community, sponsors, and partners — in creating a more equitable future in medicine and healthcare.

Our goal is simple: to grow our capacity to give, ensuring that every year, more students receive the support they need to continue their journeys with confidence. Together, we can make financial freedom part of every student’s success story.

How You Can Help

Our scholarships exist because of the generosity of individuals and organizations who believe in this mission. If you’ve ever wondered how to make a lasting impact, this is it. Your contribution directly funds scholarships for future healthcare leaders.

Thanks to the Stride Scholarship, I was able to apply my award toward the academic costs of obtaining my Master of Public Health (MPH) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. At Chan, I focused on Quantitative Methods with the goal of driving population-level change in healthcare. Leveraging the skills I gained, I have authored three first-author publications on topics including violent injury prevention, health literacy, and equity in physician workforce development. Based on these works and my prior engagements, I am honored to have been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Public Health Award from the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Physicians Professional Advisory Committee. Thank you again for your invaluable support!
